Mr. Sunday Adeyemi, a school owner in Ibadan, has reportedly disappeared with funds intended for students’ WAEC and NECO exam fees, jeopardizing their educational prospects. The revelation came from Adejoke Lasisi, the founder of Planet 3R, who shared the news on Facebook.
Lasisi’s post highlighted that many parents had borrowed money to ensure their children could take these crucial exams. Their hopes were dashed when they discovered the school had not registered their children despite collecting the fees. Lasisi’s anger was personal, as her younger brother had previously been a victim of a similar incident, though her family managed to re-register him for the exams with community support.
Adeyemi’s actions were seen as a betrayal, especially since he had run “The Lord’s Favour” school for over two decades. It was reported that he sold his properties, including his home and the school, to fund his escape abroad, leaving students and parents in disbelief and hardship.
Lasisi concluded by stressing that while seeking opportunities abroad is a right, it should not come at the expense of others, particularly when it involves breaching trust and endangering the futures of innocent students.
