Fresh questions have emerged over the political ambition of Mrs. Grace Aderonke Atoyebi as additional documents obtained by ChroniclesReporters have intensified the controversy surrounding her bid for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Ondo State House of Assembly seat representing Odigbo Constituency II.
The latest development comes barely days after concerns were raised over allegations that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is backing Atoyebi’s emergence despite growing opposition from sections of the party and stakeholders within the constituency.
At the centre of the renewed controversy are official documents relating to Atoyebi’s age, voter registration and electoral records, with party members insisting that the issues deserve public clarification before the APC concludes its candidate selection process.
ChroniclesReporters reviewed a copy of an international passport bearing Atoyebi’s name. The passport indicates that her date of birth is May 22, 1989.
However, another document circulating among party members, identified as a birth registration certificate bearing the same name, appears to reflect a different year of birth.
The apparent inconsistency has become a major issue within political circles in Odigbo, with party stakeholders calling for an explanation to dispel what they describe as avoidable doubts surrounding the records of a public office aspirant.
Political observers note that inconsistencies in official records often attract public scrutiny and are typically expected to be clarified by the individual concerned.
The controversy does not end there.
Documents obtained by ChroniclesReporters also include an APC Temporary Membership Slip showing that Atoyebi registered as a member of the ruling party in Araromi-Obu Ward in April 2026, as well as a voter transfer application indicating that she sought to move her voter registration to the same ward.
However, another document reviewed by ChroniclesReporters, said to be a screenshot from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter verification portal, reportedly returned the message “No voters matched the information you entered” when the Voter Identification Number (VIN) contained on the transfer application was searched.
The screenshot has fuelled further debate among party members, many of whom are demanding clarification from both the electoral commission and the aspirant.
Some party stakeholders also questioned whether Atoyebi possessed a valid Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) at the time of participating in recent party activities. Sources alleged that she voted during the APC Ondo South Senatorial District by-election in Araromi-Obu after transferring her voter registration.
The growing controversy has heightened concerns within the APC, with some stakeholders warning that failure to address the issues transparently could undermine confidence in the party’s nomination process and deepen divisions among members ahead of the primaries.
Several party leaders who spoke anonymously urged the APC leadership to verify all documents submitted by aspirants and ensure that the selection process is transparent, credible and capable of withstanding public and legal scrutiny.
The controversy has also generated intense discussions across Odigbo communities, where residents say the party owes members and the electorate clear answers to the questions raised over the aspirant’s records.
Some sources further alleged that Atoyebi enjoys a close personal relationship with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and claimed that the relationship influenced her political rise within the party.
As of press time, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Grace Aderonke Atoyebi, the Ondo State chapter of the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not issued official responses to the issues highlighted in this report.
With pressure mounting from party members and community stakeholders alike, attention is now focused on whether the APC leadership will publicly address the concerns and clarify the issues surrounding the documents before the party’s nomination process moves forward.
