A Lagos State High Court has been asked to award ₦54.5 million in damages against popular Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck following allegations that he physically assaulted a public relations executive, leaving him with injuries, emotional trauma and significant financial losses.
According to the court documents, the claimant alleged that the rapper attacked him without provocation, striking him in the face before forcefully pushing him during the incident.
The claimant maintained that the alleged assault resulted in injuries that required medical treatment, forcing him to incur substantial healthcare expenses.
As part of the suit, he is seeking ₦2 million as reimbursement for medical consultations, medication and follow-up treatment, ₦1 million for ancillary medical costs, including diagnostic tests, X-rays, CT scans and transportation, as well as ₦1.5 million for other out-of-pocket expenses connected to his treatment.
The court filing stated that receipts and other supporting documents would be tendered during the trial to substantiate the medical expenses.
Beyond the medical costs, the claimant is demanding ₦50 million as compensation for alleged financial losses, claiming that the incident occurred during the festive season, widely regarded as one of the busiest and most lucrative periods for professionals in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
He alleged that the injuries prevented him from fulfilling several professional engagements and forced him to cancel an international work trip with an artiste under Chocolate City, resulting in the loss of valuable career opportunities and professional exposure.
According to the claimant, the alleged assault delayed project deliveries, reduced his productivity and caused him to miss confirmed bookings that would have generated substantial income.
The claimant further argued that the incident caused severe physical pain, emotional distress, psychological trauma and embarrassment, which allegedly affected his ability to perform his duties as a public relations executive in the highly competitive entertainment industry.
He also claimed the incident subjected him to public ridicule, damaged his professional reputation and disrupted his career progression, adding that he continues to experience anxiety, diminished confidence and fear in both his personal and professional interactions, requiring ongoing therapy.
The suit further alleged that the rapper’s conduct was malicious, intimidating and intended to humiliate him, claiming that the defendant had shown no remorse and had allegedly continued actions capable of further damaging his dignity and reputation.
Court documents also revealed that before commencing legal proceedings, the claimant, through his solicitors, issued a formal demand to the defendant seeking compensation for the injuries and losses allegedly suffered.
The matter is expected to proceed before the Lagos State High Court, where both parties will have the opportunity to present evidence in support of their respective cases.
As of the time of filing the suit, Odumodublvck had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the court documents. The allegations remain claims before the court and have not been determined by the court.
