The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Oyekan Abiodun, has launched a blistering attack on Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Jimi Odimayo, accusing them of abandoning the Ore–Okitipupa Road to decay while residents continue to suffer.
In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Abiodun described the strategic highway as a “death trap”, alleging that for more than two years, repeated appeals by residents over its deplorable condition had been ignored by both the state and federal authorities.
He said the road is the only major link connecting Ore to Ikale, Ilaje and Ese-Odo communities, warning that its continued neglect has crippled economic activities, endangered lives and subjected thousands of commuters to untold hardship.
Abiodun maintained that Governor Aiyedatiwa could not hide behind the argument that the road is under the Federal Government, insisting that the protection of lives and the welfare of Ondo residents remain the primary responsibility of the state government.
He also accused Hon. Odimayo of failing to provide effective representation, questioning what he described as the silence of the federal lawmaker despite the worsening condition of one of the constituency’s most important highways.
Describing the situation as a clear example of failed leadership, the AAC candidate called on residents across Ikale land and Ondo State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Abiodun pledged that an AAC administration would prioritise the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, saying the party would invest in durable roads and other social amenities capable of driving sustainable economic growth and improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
He demanded the immediate reconstruction of the Ore–Okitipupa Road, declaring that “enough is enough,” and warning that continued neglect of the highway would remain a defining symbol of what he called the APC government’s failure to serve the people.
