The Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Comr. Hon. Kasim Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to expose irregularities, enforce accountability and strengthen transparency as the council’s ongoing verification exercise enters a decisive phase.
The Chairman made the declaration after honouring an invitation by the Verification Committee, which briefed him on the progress of its assignment while conducting an extensive question-and-answer session with former and retired Heads of Departments (HODs) from various departments of the Gwagwalada Area Council Secretariat.
The latest development marks another significant milestone in the comprehensive verification exercise inaugurated by the Kasim Mohammed administration to scrutinise contracts, financial records, administrative procedures and project executions inherited by the council. The exercise, which has drawn the attention of contractors, former officials and key stakeholders, is aimed at establishing an accurate record of government transactions and ensuring that public resources are managed with the highest level of integrity.
Speaking during the meeting, Comr. Hon. Kasim Mohammed commended members of the Verification Committee for their professionalism, diligence and unwavering commitment to carrying out a transparent and credible assignment. He observed that the integrity displayed throughout the exercise had continued to inspire confidence among stakeholders, revealing that several contractors had acknowledged the fairness, impartiality and credibility of the verification process.
The Chairman stressed that the verification exercise was never designed to witch-hunt any individual but to establish the true position of government records, verify contractual obligations and ensure that every expenditure of public funds can withstand scrutiny. He maintained that his administration would neither be intimidated nor distracted from its resolve to entrench accountability, insisting that no genuine effort to sanitise public institutions can succeed without transparency and due process.
Comr. Hon. Kasim Mohammed further assured the committee of his unwavering support until the exercise is successfully concluded, expressing confidence that its findings and recommendations would strengthen institutional governance, eliminate administrative loopholes and reinforce public trust in the management of the Gwagwalada Area Council.
Political observers say the verification exercise has emerged as one of the most far-reaching accountability initiatives undertaken by the current administration.
