Controversial TikTok personality, Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions imposed by a Lagos Magistrate’s Court following his arraignment over allegations of threatening the life of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The social media personality was released after fulfilling the conditions of his bail granted by the Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, where he was arraigned on a three-count charge arising from a viral social media video linked to comments he made about the 2027 presidential election.
DJ Chicken is facing charges bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and offences under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
According to the prosecution, the charges stemmed from a video the TikTok personality posted across his social media platforms while discussing Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. Authorities alleged that the video contained threats directed at Seyi Tinubu and violated provisions of Nigerian law.
Following the perfection of his bail conditions, DJ Chicken was released from custody pending the continuation of legal proceedings.
Former presidential candidate and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore confirmed the entertainer’s release on Tuesday, announcing that he had reunited with his family, friends and supporters.
Sowore also condemned what he described as the oppression of citizens, insisting that no Nigerian should suffer injustice while others remain silent.
“DJ Chicken is free and reunited with his family, friends and loved ones. No one should suffer oppression while the rest of us watch in silence. An injury to one is an injury to all. We will continue to stand against oppression for the weak,” he said.
The case has continued to attract widespread public attention, with renewed debate over freedom of expression, the enforcement of the Cybercrime Act, and the legal consequences of political statements made on social media ahead of the 2027 general election.
