The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that aspirants seeking its presidential ticket for the 2026 elections will pay N100 million for nomination forms, as the party unveiled its primary election timetable.
The disclosure was made on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the presidential primary has been scheduled for May 25, 2026.
Beyond the presidential race, the ADC also fixed nomination fees for other elective positions. Governorship aspirants are to pay N50 million, Senate hopefuls N20 million, House of Representatives candidates N10 million, while those vying for State House of Assembly seats will pay N3 million.
In an effort to encourage broader participation, the party introduced discounts for certain groups. Youth aspirants will enjoy a 50 per cent reduction in fees, while women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 25 per cent discount.
According to Abdullahi, the timetable reflects the party’s intention to ensure a transparent and well-organised process that aligns with electoral regulations.
The ADC outlined a detailed timeline for its primaries. Sale of nomination forms will take place from May 5 to May 10, followed by submission between May 11 and May 13. Screening of aspirants is slated for May 14 and 15, with results expected on May 17.
Appeals will be handled between May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared candidates will be published on May 20.
Primaries for State Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate positions will begin at the ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, ahead of the presidential primary on May 25.
The process will conclude with a National Executive Committee meeting on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, where final decisions are expected to be ratified.
The party called on members and aspirants to adhere strictly to the outlined guidelines and timelines.
