The FCT High Court sitting in Gwagwalada is set to hear further proceedings tomorrow, 23rd March, 2026, in a suit filed by Chronicles Reporters News Limited against the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, and Gwagwalada Area Council.
The case, marked Suit No: M/166/2026, centers on a request by the media organization seeking a court order to compel the Council Chairman to release certain public documents and information allegedly in his custody.
At the last sitting on 5th February, 2026, counsel to the Applicant, Peter Chidiebere Nworie, moved a Motion Exparte before the court, seeking leave to apply for a Judicial Review by way of an Order of Mandamus.
After listening to the application, the presiding judge granted the request and directed the Applicant to file and serve a Motion on Notice on the Respondents, paving the way for the substantive hearing.
Representatives of the Applicant, including its workers, community members, EFCC & ICPC representatives, and delegates from the National Assembly, were present in court during the proceedings.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to 23rd March, 2026 for further hearing.
The outcome of the case is expected to address issues relating to access to public information and accountability within the Gwagwalada Area Council administration.
