Fresh drama is rocking Gwagwalada Area Council as a bombshell Facebook post by prominent voice Muhammed Isah Hassan has torn the veil off the so-called “Small London” legacy of outgoing Chairman Abu Giri, painting it as nothing but a mountain of fictitious projects and unpaid billions now dumped on the laps of incoming Chairman Kasim Mohammed.
In a no-holds-barred statement that has already gone viral, Hassan declared: “I pity the administration of Kasim Mohammed. While I sincerely pray for his success, it is clear that he will need a sound financial expert to navigate the council out of the burden of billions tied up in questionable and fictitious projects left behind by the outgoing Abu Giri administration.”
Hassan sounded the alarm on a string of high-profile but allegedly unpaid critical infrastructure projects, listing them one after the other like a rap sheet: the Giri Township Road, Giri Shinka Township Road, Gwako 1 Township Road, Anagada Township Road, Hajj Camp Road, and “a host of others” that were reportedly never paid for.
“This speaks volumes about the financial situation he is inheriting,” Hassan wrote, adding that the real task before the new administration is “not just governance, it is financial recovery and accountability.”
The post ends with a stinging sarcasm that has set tongues wagging across the Federal Capital Territory: “Indeed, Gwagwalada is a small London under Abu Giri.”
Residents who once celebrated the glossy roads and township upgrades as Abuja’s mini-metropolis are now asking the hard questions: Where did the money go? Were the projects ever real? And how deep exactly is the hole the new chairman has been thrown into?
