The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is facing an internal crisis as key party figures come under fire for actions described as unconstitutional, insubordinate, and anti-party. In a statement released today, the FCT Chapter called on the National Leadership to intervene urgently to restore order and safeguard party structures.
The FCT leadership expressed concern over the conduct of Distinguished Senator Heebah Reti Kingibe and Hon. Barrister Vivian Awunor Anazodo, accusing them of unilateral decision-making, neglect of duty, and a disregard for the principles of participatory governance and collective leadership.
According to the statement, Senator Kingibe failed to convene critical leadership meetings and was largely absent during the off-season Area Council elections, contributing to what the party describes as “suboptimal performance.” Furthermore, her purported move to dissolve all party structures in the FCT has been characterized as a gross overreach and an affront to the party’s democratic processes.
The FCT Chapter of the ADC emphasized that such actions threaten the party’s constitutional framework and corporate purpose. “The persistent disregard for party principles by certain leaders undermines our collective efforts and jeopardizes the integrity of the ADC in Abuja,” the statement read.
Party members and stakeholders have been urged to remain vigilant and support efforts toward timely intervention and redress to restore order and ensure compliance with the party constitution.
As the ADC FCT faces mounting internal pressures, attention now turns to the National Leadership to act decisively and prevent further erosion of party cohesion ahead of upcoming political engagements in the territory.
