The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the elevation of the traditional ruler of Kwali Area Council, Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, to the rank of a First-Class Chief. The announcement was made on Monday during the minister’s thank-you visit to the council in Abuja, where he also pledged that the FCT Administration would construct a befitting palace for the monarch.
Wike said the decision to upgrade the traditional stool was in recognition of the royal father’s support for President Bola Tinubu and his role in promoting peace, unity and the cultural heritage of the Gbagyi people. He added that the president appreciated the monarch’s leadership and had promised to personally visit the community to express his gratitude.
The minister also commended the outgoing chairman of the council, Danladi Chiya, and the chairman-elect, Nuhu Daniel Kwali, for what he described as people-focused leadership and grassroots development. He assured residents that the FCT Administration would continue to support projects aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions in the area.
In his remarks, Chairman Danladi Chiya thanked the minister for his consistent support and described the recent political outcome in Kwali as historic, noting that for the first time a political party produced a chairman and all ten councillors consecutively.
The Etsu Kwali described the visit as unprecedented, saying it was the first time an FCT minister had visited the council to appreciate residents after an election, while the chairman-elect, Nuhu Kwali, attributed his victory to development projects in the area and appealed for continued government support, including the construction of a palace for the traditional ruler.
