The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victories in three Area Councils, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clinched one, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues collation and prepares to announce results for the remaining two councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections.
In the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship race, APC’s Christopher Maikalangu emerged victorious with 40,295 votes. He defeated the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who polled 12,109 votes, while the PDP candidate came third with 3,398 votes.
In Gwagwalada Area Council, PDP’s Mohammed Kasim won the chairmanship seat with 22,165 votes, defeating APC’s Yahaya Shehu, who secured 17,788 votes. The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Biko Umar, finished third with 1,687 votes.
APC’s Daniel Nuhu claimed victory in Kwali Area Council, polling 17,032 votes to defeat PDP’s Haruna Pai, who garnered 8,575 votes.
In Bwari Area Council, APC’s Joshua Ishaku emerged winner with 18,466 votes. He defeated the ADC candidate, who scored 4,254 votes, and the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), who polled 3,515 votes.
With four of the six councils decided, attention now turns to the remaining two results expected to be announced by INEC.
