The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada Area Council, Comrade Kasim Mohammed, on Thursday visited Paiko to commiserate with residents following an alleged arson attack.

According to his campaign team, the visit was prompted by reports that the residence of Mallam Sani was set ablaze by suspected APC thugs a few days ago.

During the visit, Kasim Mohammed led a small delegation to the affected area, expressing solidarity with victims and assessing the level of damage. Addressing the community, he condemned all forms of political violence and intimidation, stressing that “elections should not be treated as a battlefield but as a democratic process where the will of the people prevails.”

He also prayed for peace in Paiko and across Gwagwalada, noting that “only a peaceful atmosphere can guarantee credible and acceptable elections.”

Kasim Mohammed further reassured residents of his commitment to protecting lives and property if elected, promising an administration “anchored on peace, security and justice for all communities within the Area Council.”

The visit highlights rising concerns over political tensions in Gwagwalada as local elections approach, with candidates and community leaders calling for calm and adherence to democratic norms.
