Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has responded to the violent incidents at the recent APC Congress, urging party members to remain united and calling for a full investigation into the unrest. In a statement released via his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor condemned the violence and stressed that it does not reflect his leadership.
Aiyedatiwa highlighted his commitment to inclusivity, noting that he is the first governor in Ondo State to hold quarterly stakeholder engagements with party leaders from all local government areas, fostering cohesion and dialogue among APC members.
Addressing the Idanre ward congress clashes that resulted in multiple casualties, including the death of Ralph Adetimehin, brother of the state APC chairman, the governor called on security agencies to restore order at the Party Secretariat and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
He also appealed to all aspirants contesting for party positions to restrain their supporters and maintain peace, warning that any further breakdown of law and order in the state will not be tolerated.
The governor’s statement comes amid rising tensions within the Ondo APC, as party members and the public await clarity on how the crisis will be resolved and measures to prevent future incidents.
