The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has congratulated 26,122 officers of the Nigeria Police Force who were recently promoted to various ranks, describing the exercise as a recognition of merit, professionalism and dedication to national service.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the IGP said the promotions were well deserved and reflected the beneficiariesâ consistent performance and commitment to duty.
Egbetokun noted that while the promotions represent career advancement, they also come with increased responsibilities, urging the newly promoted officers to uphold the highest standards of leadership, discipline and professionalism.
According to him, the promotions âsignify recognition of merit and performance, while also placing greater responsibility on the beneficiaries to uphold the highest standards of leadership, discipline, and service.â
The IGP also expressed appreciation to the Police Service Commission (PSC) for approving all the promotion recommendations submitted by the Force leadership. He commended the Commission for its commitment to merit-based progression and due process.
He added that sustained cooperation between the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force is crucial to boosting officersâ morale, improving competence and enhancing overall operational effectiveness.
âThe continued synergy between the PSC and the Force is fundamental to strengthening morale, enhancing competence, and improving operational effectiveness across the policing system,â the statement said.
Egbetokun further reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ongoing reforms aimed at improving internal efficiency, strengthening public trust and deepening collaboration with national and international partners.
He assured Nigerians and the international community of the Forceâs resolve to uphold professionalism, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of lives and property across the country.
