The Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has fixed February 10, 2026, for the cross-examination of a former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, in an ongoing fraud trial.
Justice James Omotosho gave the date on February 2, 2026, following Nwabuoku’s testimony as the first defence witness in the case instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The anti-graft agency is prosecuting him on a nine-count amended charge bordering on alleged money laundering amounting to ₦868,465,000.
While testifying in his defence, Nwabuoku told the court that he was invited by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he made statements in relation to the matter. He denied all allegations of fraud and money laundering levelled against him.
The former Acting AGF urged the court to discharge and acquit him of the charges, insisting that he committed no offence. Justice Omotosho subsequently adjourned the case to February 10, 2026, for cross-examination by the prosecution.
