Armed bandits have abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, a key figure in the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation and the North-West Youth Leader for Zamfara State, Chronicles Reporters has learnt.

The incident reportedly occurred in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, after a large group of armed men stormed his residence and forcefully took him away. Sources said the attackers, estimated to be more than 30, carried out the operation in the presence of his wife before fleeing to an undisclosed location.

A security monitoring platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the abduction on Thursday, adding that security agencies were promptly notified following the attack.

Residents said the gunmen arrived in large numbers, overwhelming any possible resistance and escaping without immediate interception.

Zamfara State has continued to grapple with persistent insecurity, marked by frequent bandit attacks and mass kidnappings. Despite repeated assurances from authorities, several communities across the state and neighbouring areas remain vulnerable.

In recent years, armed groups have increasingly targeted politicians, traditional leaders and ordinary citizens, often holding victims for ransom, further deepening fear and instability across the region.
