Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, blaming what he described as an unending crisis within the partyās national leadership.
The decision was conveyed in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, and dated November 4, 2025. The governor stated that the internal turmoil rocking the national structure of the party had made his continued membership untenable.
āDue to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peopleās Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the party with immediate effect,ā the letter read.
Adeleke, who rose to prominence through the PDP, expressed appreciation to the party for providing the political platform that propelled him to public officeāfirst as Senator representing Osun West, and later as Governor.
āI thank the Peopleās Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator and as Governor of Osun State under the party,ā he stated.
Governor Adelekeās exit marks a significant shake-up within the PDP in Osun State, further compounding the national turmoil that has seen defections, internal disputes, and leadership battles intensify in recent months.
