Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents that his administration has rolled out comprehensive security measures to protect the state from possible infiltration by bandits amid rising terror attacks in neighbouring states.
In a statewide broadcast released via his X handle on Saturday, Governor Adeleke revealed that security chiefs and community stakeholders have held a series of high-level strategic sessions over the last three weeks to assess threats and tighten surveillance across Osun’s borders.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have all prioritised Osun in their security operations, with fresh deployments already stationed in identified vulnerable areas.
“Our security agencies remain fully on top of the situation,” Adeleke said.
“Concrete actions are being taken to ensure vigilance and strengthen our capacity to repel any form of incursion.”
The governor appealed to residents to support the renewed security drive by providing credible intelligence and promptly reporting suspicious activities. He further directed the Amotekun Corps to deepen collaboration with federal security outfits in order to bolster grassroots protection.
On other state matters, Adeleke called for calm as the Supreme Court prepares to issue its judgment on the ongoing local government legal tussle. He reaffirmed his confidence that the lingering crisis within the state judiciary would be resolved internally, emphasising that his administration would not interfere in judicial processes.
“Our government remains with the people, committed to delivering good governance and democratic dividends across all sectors,” he added.
