In a remarkable display of bravery, the family of a bride-to-be and a group of passengers foiled a kidnapping attempt by fatally confronting a terrorist in Zamfara State.

According to PRNigeria, the incident occurred as the bride-to-be’s family and other travelers were ambushed by bandits along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway while en route to Kano for wedding preparations.

The bride’s family, intending to purchase wedding attire and materials, encountered armed bandits who targeted their convoy.

An eyewitness disclosed to PRNigeria that the passengers reacted spontaneously once the bandits initiated their assault. Despite one bandit managing to flee, the courageous group seized two AK-47 rifles.

Describing the sequence of events, the eyewitness recounted, “As they approached the Fangal Tama checkpoint, gunfire erupted in the vicinity. Two armed bandits on motorcycles emerged, blocking the road and stopping vehicles.”

He continued, “The bandits immediately ordered the young woman (the bride-to-be), her father, mother, and two other relatives out of their vehicle at gunpoint, coercing them to follow into the nearby forest.”

Recognizing the imminent peril of abduction, the passengers decided to act swiftly. They united and launched an attack on one of the bandits, overpowering him and resulting in his demise. The other bandit managed to escape, abandoning his firearm.

The valiant group retrieved the weapons and emerged from the forest, promptly delivering the firearms to the military at a nearby checkpoint.

Despite their heroic efforts, one passenger suffered a heart attack due to the traumatic ordeal and tragically passed away in hospital.
