The Nigerian Army has uncovered a bakery reportedly operated by the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Maisani, Timbuktu Triangle, located in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

This discovery was disclosed by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X on Monday. He stated that troops from Operation Lake Sanity III and Operation Hadin Kai made the discovery during their operations.

According to Zagazola, intelligence sources revealed that the combined troops of 199 Special Forces Battalion, Hybrid Forces, and Civilian JTF discovered the bakery during their exploitation into the terrorists’ den on Sunday, April 21, 2024. The bakery was subsequently destroyed, and items recovered included 2 Lister generating plants, 1 baking machine, and various baking materials.

Zagazola further reported that the week-long clearance operation resulted in the complete decimation of the terrorists from their stronghold in the Timbuktu Triangle. This area encompasses Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi, all within the Timbuktu Triangle.

“These groups of terrorists are mostly responsible for attacks, ambushes, IED/mine incidents along Damboa roads, Damaturu-Maiduguri MSR, assaults on Askira, Buratai, Buni Yadi, and the destruction of the high tension transmission line connecting Borno and Yobe State,” Zagazola added.
