The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Benue State Chapter, has condemned the alleged killing of Hon. Igbu Job Terhemen, chairman of the party in Fiidi Council Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.

Terhemen was reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums who allegedly tied him with ropes, injected him with substances suspected to be poisonous and abandoned him near his residence around the NNPC depot along the Makurdi-Otukpo Road.

According to a statement issued by the party and signed by the Benue State Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Agile Ordedoo Bem, dated September 30, 2026, Terhemen was later found in an almost unconscious state and was unable to speak or communicate before he eventually died.

Reacting to the incident, the Benue State Chairman of the NDC, Ohini Ojegbe, described the killing as a “broad-daylight evil” and called on security agencies to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Ojegbe also urged security agencies to arrest those responsible for the alleged attack and ensure that they are brought to justice.

The NDC described Terhemen as a committed and dedicated member of the party whose contributions to its growth would be greatly missed, particularly at a time when his service and commitment were needed.

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress, Benue State Chapter, extends its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Fiidi community, and the entire NDC family,” the statement said.

The party also prayed that God would comfort the deceased’s family and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and death remain subject to investigation, while the party has called on the relevant security authorities to establish what happened and bring any persons found responsible to justice.
