Human rights activist, community organiser and citizens’ reporter, Manasseh B.P., has vowed to resist any attempt to prevent former Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, popularly known as Abu Giri, from facing prosecution over allegations linked to his administration.

Manasseh, in a Facebook post, declared that any “unholy alliance” allegedly designed to make Abu Giri escape prosecution would be resisted, stressing that he would continue to monitor the legal process and publish relevant records whenever authorised by the court.

“Any unholy alliance that will make Abu Giri escape prosecution will be resisted and we shall make sure to publish the records when the court gives the order,” Manasseh stated.

He added that he would continue to follow the matter until the former chairman faces whatever criminal charges may arise and allows the law to take its course.

The position marks another chapter in Manasseh’s longstanding campaign for accountability and transparency in the management of public resources in Gwagwalada Area Council.

Manasseh has previously raised questions about alleged financial practices under the former administration, including claims relating to the payment of council workers and teachers, expenditure on vehicles and properties allegedly acquired for associates and loyalists, and what he described as extravagant spending of public resources.

He has also made serious allegations concerning his own treatment during his advocacy activities. According to Manasseh, Abu Giri, allegedly acting through his political associate and former APGA chairmanship candidate, Ezekiel Umar Biko, popularly known as Zezelaga, was connected to an incident in which he was allegedly abducted, detained and subjected to torture before being taken to the police.

Manasseh has maintained that the action was connected to his demands for accountability, particularly his questions over the alleged failure to adequately address the welfare and payment of council workers and teachers, as well as his scrutiny of the administration’s financial activities.

The allegations against Abu Giri and Zezelaga remain matters of dispute and would require competent judicial or investigative authorities to establish responsibility. Neither the publication of the allegations nor Manasseh’s assertions should be taken as a determination of guilt.

The former chairman has also faced allegations that public resources were mismanaged through excessive spending and the alleged acquisition of houses and vehicles for political loyalists, while financial obligations allegedly accumulated during the period of his administration.

Manasseh’s latest statement suggests that he intends to continue pursuing the matter through the courts, public-interest reporting and demands for institutional accountability.

He has therefore challenged relevant law-enforcement and anti-corruption authorities to ensure that any allegations supported by evidence are properly investigated and prosecuted, insisting that political connections should not be allowed to frustrate the administration of justice.

As the controversy continues, attention is expected to remain focused on whether investigative and judicial authorities will determine that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute any alleged offences and, ultimately, whether those accused will be held accountable under the law.

For Manasseh, the central issue remains accountability, with his latest message ending with the declaration “#AbuGiriMusTFaceTheLaw”
