The SaveGwagz Movement has called on the Gwagwalada Area Council Asset Verification Committee to thoroughly investigate all appointments and employments allegedly carried out during the final weeks of the administration of former Executive Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri.
The committee was constituted by the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, to assess the financial activities of the previous administration and recommend appropriate actions where necessary. As part of this process of accountability and institutional assessment, the SaveGwagz Movement believes it is important for the committee to also scrutinise all last-minute employment exercises conducted before the change of administration.
According to the movement, reports of recruitment carried out shortly before the expiration of the previous administration have raised concerns among stakeholders and members of the public, who insist that due process, transparency, and fairness must be upheld in all government employment processes.
The SaveGwagz Movement stated that a comprehensive review would help determine whether the appointments complied with established procedures and relevant public service regulations governing recruitment within the Area Council.
The movement stressed that the call should not be viewed as a witch-hunt against any individual or group but as an effort to strengthen public confidence in the administration of the Council. It maintained that ensuring all appointments were made in accordance with the law would promote accountability, safeguard the integrity of the local government system, and reassure residents that merit, equity, and due process remain the foundation of governance in Gwagwalada Area Council.
The SaveGwagz Movement therefore urged the Asset Verification Committee to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent assessment of the employment exercise and make its findings available through the appropriate channels. According to the movement, such action would further demonstrate the Council’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and responsible management of public resources in the interest of the people of Gwagwalada.
