
In a significant move aimed at consolidating governance, strengthening administrative coordination, and accelerating service delivery across Gwagwalada Area Council, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Comr.) Kasim Mohammed, has approved a fresh round of strategic appointments into key offices within the council administration.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are part of what observers describe as the Chairman’s broader effort to build a competent and result-oriented team capable of translating campaign promises into tangible development outcomes for residents of the council.
The newly constituted administrative structure covers critical areas including policy coordination, protocol management, technical support, media and public communications, legislative administration, and intergovernmental liaison.
Among the appointments announced is Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yunusa, who assumes office as Chief of Staff, a position regarded as one of the most influential within the Chairman’s administration due to its responsibility for coordinating executive activities and ensuring smooth implementation of government policies.
Mr. Simon Olaoluwa Adams was appointed Principal Personal Secretary, while Mr. Yunusa Idris takes over as Personal Assistant to the Chairman.
To strengthen technical advisory support within the administration, Mr. Ismaila Sulaiman was named Chief Technical Assistant, a role expected to provide strategic guidance on key developmental initiatives and policy implementation.
In the area of protocol and official engagements, Hon. Salihu Adamu was appointed Chief Protocol Officer, while Hon. Abubakar Ayodele Zakari will serve as Protocol Officer II, both expected to coordinate official functions, government engagements, and ceremonial responsibilities of the council leadership.
The Chairman also approved the appointment of Mr. Mustapha Yakubu as Chief Press Secretary, placing him at the forefront of government communications, public information management, and media relations for the administration.
Within the legislative arm, Mr. Gideon Makama was appointed Clerk of the House, while Miss Bisalla Akanti emerged as Deputy Clerk of the House. Their appointments are expected to enhance legislative administration and strengthen collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of the council.
Completing the list of appointments is Hon. Danbaba Salihu, who was named Liaison Officer, a position considered crucial for maintaining effective communication and coordination between the council administration, stakeholders, government agencies, and the wider community.
Speaking on the appointments, Chairman Kasim Mohammed stated that the selections were carefully made to establish a functional and efficient governance structure capable of delivering on the administration’s development agenda and meeting the expectations of residents across the council.
He noted that the appointments reflect his commitment to assembling individuals with the capacity, competence, and dedication required to support the vision of a responsive and people-oriented government.
