There was confusion and heightened tension on Monday at the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, following a dramatic incident involving activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
Eyewitness accounts from supporters at the court allege that armed men believed to be operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the court premises and forcefully took Sowore away shortly after proceedings.
The supporters further claimed the men, who were heavily armed, brandished rifles and used intimidation tactics around the courtroom, triggering panic and disorder within the court vicinity.
The development reportedly unfolded shortly after a remand order was said to have been issued by Justice Umar Mohammed, though full details of the court’s decision and the immediate sequence of events remain unclear.
Security presence around the court was immediately heightened as the situation escalated, with uncertainty surrounding Sowore’s whereabouts at the time of filing this report.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the alleged abduction or responding to the claims made by those present at the scene.
The situation remains fluid as more details are expected to emerge.
