A senior U.S. lawmaker, Edward J. Markey, has called for the immediate removal of President Donald Trump, describing his recent statements as dangerous amid rising tensions with Iran.
In a statement issued on April 7, 2026, Markey warned that the president’s rhetoric poses a serious threat not only to the United States but to global stability. He argued that the situation has reached a point where legislative checks alone may no longer be sufficient.
According to him, Congress must urgently explore constitutional options, including impeachment or invoking the 25th Amendment, to remove the president from office.
Markey’s remarks come in response to escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, following controversial comments by Trump suggesting catastrophic consequences if the crisis is not resolved.
Meanwhile, Republican Congressman Nathaniel Moran has also weighed in, distancing himself from extreme rhetoric while reaffirming support for strong national defense.
Moran emphasized that while the United States must remain prepared to defend its interests, any use of military force must align with constitutional authority and moral standards. He cautioned against language that suggests the destruction of an entire civilization, stating that such views do not reflect American values.
The lawmaker noted that although he has previously supported the administration’s actions regarding Iran on national security grounds, there must be clear limits guided by law and ethics.
He stressed that America’s global leadership depends not only on military strength but also on restraint and adherence to just principles.
The comments from both lawmakers highlight growing political divisions in Washington as concerns mount over the direction of U.S. foreign policy and the potential consequences of the ongoing standoff with Iran.
