Fresh controversy has emerged within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after former Senate President Bukola Saraki was accused by a party member of acting as a political intermediary for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in land allocation matters in Abuja.
The allegation surfaced on Thursday, March 12, 2026, further highlighting the internal divisions affecting Nigeria’s main opposition party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The claim was made by Umar Sani, a PDP chieftain and former media aide to ex–Vice President Namadi Sambo. According to him, Bukola Saraki is allegedly functioning as a “land agent,” helping individuals gain access to prime plots in Abuja through the Federal Capital Territory administration led by Nyesom Wike.
The accusation comes at a time of growing tension within the Peoples Democratic Party. Some members have been openly critical of Nyesom Wike, arguing that his role in the federal cabinet under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) raises questions about his loyalty to the opposition party.
The dispute is unfolding alongside broader disagreements over party leadership and political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. Critics within the PDP warn that any perceived alignment between Bukola Saraki and Nyesom Wike could further deepen divisions among party members.
