The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that it has conducted approximately 3,400 airstrikes on targets in Iran since the war involving Israel and the United States against Tehran began about a week ago.
According to military spokesman Effie Defrin, Israeli forces have dropped roughly 7,500 munitions on various targets across Iran during the ongoing military campaign.
Defrin said the strikes form part of a broader operation aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities.
In a separate announcement on Saturday evening, the Israeli military said it had launched a new “wave of strikes” targeting locations in Tehran, the Iranian capital.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for a missile strike on the United States’ military facility at Naval Support Activity Bahrain in Juffair, Bahrain.
In a statement posted on its website, the IRGC said the attack was carried out in retaliation for what it described as aggression from the base earlier in the day.
According to the Guards, the base had been used in an attack on the Qeshm desalination plant in Iran.
“In response to the aggression of American terrorists from the Juffair base against the Qeshm desalination plant, this American base was immediately struck by precision-guided solid-fuel and liquid-fuel missiles,” the IRGC said.
The escalating strikes mark a significant intensification in hostilities between Israel, the United States and Iran, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
