In a significant show of unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Khalifa Bello Al-Adam has officially withdrawn his candidacy for the position of Northwest Zonal Youth Leader, throwing his weight behind Abdulhameed Umar Muhammad, popularly known as Osca, who emerged as the consensus candidate.
Khalifa Bello Al-Adam announced that his decision followed an appeal by Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who called on party stakeholders to adopt consensus arrangements and maintain the existing party structure in order to strengthen unity within the ruling party.
According to Khalifa, the move was also in alignment with the position of his state leadership and in support of the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, whom he described as the leader of the party in Kano and a key figure in sustaining party cohesion across the Northwest region.
The withdrawal, which was widely welcomed by delegates and party stakeholders, reflects growing internal cooperation among party members ahead of the new zonal leadership structure.
Khalifa Bello Al-Adam congratulated President Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to unity within the party, while also commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his guidance and support throughout the process.
He further expressed appreciation to the congress committee, party delegates, APC members, and the host governor, Uba Sani, for organizing a peaceful and successful congress.
Political observers say the consensus arrangement signals a renewed push by the APC leadership to avoid internal divisions and strengthen grassroots mobilization, particularly among youths in the Northwest geopolitical zone.
With Abdulhameed Umar Muhammad (Osca) now emerging as the consensus candidate, party leaders emphasized the importance of collective effort to advance the progressive agenda and consolidate party unity.
Khalifa Bello Al-Adam concluded by calling on party members across the region to rally behind the new leadership, stressing that unity remains the strongest pathway toward strengthening the progressive movement and ensuring the continued growth of the APC.
“Together, we must move the progressive movement forward,” he said.
The development marks another strategic step in the APC’s effort to maintain internal harmony and reinforce its leadership structure across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
