A review of entries on the federal government’s public payments portal, Govspend, shows that the Nigeria Police Force under Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun spent more than ₦239 million in 2025 on food items for personnel deployed on security surveillance operations.

The payments, listed under “Police formations and commands,” detail multiple transactions to vendors for dry rations supplied to officers across various geo-political zones. Items purchased included cartons of Geisha, baked beans, cream cracker biscuits, Ovaltine, cornflakes, Milo, milk, and other packaged food products.
According to records on Govspend, on June 30, 2025, ₦8.4 million was paid to Oran Global Investment Limited for the supply of 80 cartons of Geisha and other items as dry rations for personnel operating in the North-West.

On October 23, 2025, Chiomstic Resources Abuja received ₦17.2 million for supplying cartons of baked beans, Geisha, and other items for officers in the South-East. On the same date, Oran Global Investment Ltd was paid ₦21.6 million for additional rations, including Geisha, sachet Milo, and cream crackers.
Further payments followed in November and December 2025. On November 11, ₦19.6 million was paid to Chiomstic Resources for cartons of Ovaltine, cornflakes, and Geisha. A day later, ₦23.2 million went to Oran Global Investment Limited for the supply of Geisha, baked beans, and other dry items for personnel in the North-West.

Between December 18 and December 31, several transactions were recorded involving companies such as Danlokey Systems Limited, Elasoptic Ventures Ltd, Chumchuks Investment Limited, and Olycee Ventures Limited. Individual payments during this period ranged from ₦19.6 million to ₦21.8 million for various combinations of canned food and other ration items.
Cumulatively, the listed transactions reviewed amount to over ₦239 million for food supplies in 2025 alone.

The food procurement spending comes amid other notable expenditures by the police. Earlier reviews of Govspend records showed that the Ministry of Police Affairs paid ₦2.6 billion in April 2025 for the production of ballistic vests to Marhunnas Nigeria Limited. Corporate Affairs Commission records reportedly listed the company as “struck off,” a status the commission has stated renders a company ineligible to operate as a legal entity.
Additionally, records indicate that the police spent ₦104.9 million in 2025 on the production of ACP-IGP customised berets. On August 28, ₦83.1 million was paid to Jh Partners Limited for 5,000 berets, while ₦21.8 million was paid on October 22 to Fasmaz Kiri Enterprise for 1,550 pieces.
Previous Govspend reviews also revealed expenditures on Inspector General of Police-branded towels in 2024 under the current police leadership.
As of press time, there has been no official response from police authorities regarding the 2025 food procurement expenses.
