Gunmen have abducted and killed Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledon, the traditional ruler of the Agamo community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to reports, the attackers stormed the monarch’s palace on Wednesday night and forcefully whisked him away. He was later found near his residence with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the incident. He disclosed that the case was reported around 7:50 p.m. by a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu, who alerted authorities that about six armed men invaded the royal residence and abducted the traditional ruler.

“The victim was subsequently found with gunshot injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” Abayomi said.

Security operatives including tactical police teams, local hunters, personnel of the Amotekun Corps, and members of the Atuluse security group have launched a manhunt for the assailants. They are combing surrounding forests and neighbouring communities in an effort to apprehend those responsible.

Police authorities assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that measures are being intensified to strengthen security monitoring and prevent further incidents.
