The Secretary to Keffi Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Ibrahim Bala, has been dismissed from office over allegations of unethical conduct and offensive social media posts directed at the council chairman.
Bala’s removal was approved by the Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Idris Ahmed Damagani, who described the action as a disciplinary measure necessitated by the former secretary’s conduct and online utterances.
The termination was conveyed in an official letter signed by the council’s Director of Administration, Usman Zubairu Egya. According to the letter, Bala’s sack followed an internal administrative process, including the issuance of a formal query to him on January 11, 2026, over allegations of misconduct.
The council stated that Bala failed to provide a satisfactory explanation in response to the query.
The letter accused the former secretary of making threatening remarks against the executive chairman, posting unethical and inflammatory content on social media, and showing gross disrespect to constituted authority, elders, and political stakeholders within the local government and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The council warned that such conduct was unbecoming of a public officer and capable of undermining peace and harmony within Keffi Local Government Area, as well as the APC at both local and state levels.
According to the letter, Bala’s utterances were considered a threat to the chairman, who is his principal, while his social media posts were described as “worrisome” and potentially disruptive to peaceful coexistence.
It further stated that his alleged disregard for authority and key stakeholders was unacceptable, adding that his appointment as Secretary to Keffi Local Government Council had therefore been terminated with immediate effect.
