According to Property records obtained by Secret Reporters indicate that political commentator Reno Omokri purchased a newly built luxury home in California, United States, in April 2024,about seven months after publicly declaring support for President Bola Tinubu. The property, a two-storey single-family residence located at 7765 Forestdale Way, Elk Grove, was completed in 2024 and registered in the name of Bemigho R. Omokri as an owner occupied home.
Official documents show the house is a four-bedroom, three-bathroom property covering 1,932 square feet, with an attached garage, central heating and cooling, and modern wooden construction. Building permits indicate it was developed by DR Horton, one of the largest homebuilders in the United States, and includes a rooftop solar photovoltaic system. Records reviewed the purchase price at $573,500 on April 24, 2024.
At the exchange rate of about ₦1,900 to the dollar at the time, the transaction is estimated at roughly ₦1.09 billion. Mortgage documents linked to the property show two loans: a $398,490 mortgage secured in May 2024 from American Financial Network Inc. and a second $360,000 loan obtained in October 2024 from ResiCentral LLC. A Deed of Trust registered later that year consolidated Omokri’s financial interest in the property.
Elk Grove, a rapidly expanding suburb south of Sacramento, is described in property records as a high-growth, family-oriented city with rising real estate values. The documents show no foreclosure history, no corporate or trust ownership, and list the owner’s mailing address as the property itself, confirming its owner-occupied status. Public records do not indicate prior home ownership by Omokri in the United States.
Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was previously known as a vocal critic of President Tinubu ahead of the 2023 elections, before later emerging as a prominent public defender of the administration’s policies. The timing of the property purchase has since drawn public attention and debate, with questions raised online about his sources of income, issues on which Omokri has not made a detailed public statement as of the time of this report.
