Residents of Tampe community in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have raised alarm over the deplorable condition of their only access road, describing it as a symbol of decades-long neglect by successive governments.
According to information obtained by Chronicles Reporters from TrackerNG, the Tampe community road has remained in a terrible state since the inception of the community over 40 years ago, affecting an estimated 4,300 residents.
The road, which links Tampe to neighboring communities and essential services, has become a major source of hardship. Residents reportedly struggle daily to commute, access markets, attend schools, and reach hospitals due to the poor condition of the road.
Community members also lamented that the situation worsens during the rainy season, as the road becomes extremely slippery, leading to frequent accidents and further endangering lives and livelihoods.
In their appeal, residents directly called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe; and members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dalandi Chiya and Hon. Abdulrahman Ajiya, to urgently intervene.
They urged the concerned offices to facilitate the construction of the Tampe community road, stressing that decades of neglect have inflicted untold suffering on law-abiding residents who only seek basic infrastructure and dignity.
Residents insist that fixing the Tampe road is long overdue and should no longer be treated as a political promise but as an urgent necessity.
