Tension and solidarity converged on Monday at the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Gwagwalada as concerned youths occupied the premises in protest and support of their colleague, Comrade Muhammad Isah Hassan, a known community organizer who was invited by the DSS.

The action followed a public Facebook post by activist Abu D. Hurayra, who announced that they were live at the DSS office in Gwagwalada “in solidarity with our colleague, Comr. Muhammad Isah Hassan, who was invited by the DSS Gwagwalada,” a post that quickly gained traction across social media platforms under the hashtag #StandWithIsah.

Eyewitnesses report that the youths gathered peacefully, chanting solidarity slogans and demanding transparency over the reason for the DSS invitation. Many described the action as a civic stand against what they perceive as increasing intimidation of youth voices, community organizers, and social advocates in Gwagwalada.

Speaking to Chronicles Reporters, one of the protesters said the presence of youths at the DSS office was not an act of confrontation but a message of unity and vigilance.

“We are not here to cause trouble. We are here to show that Muhammad Isah is not alone. He is a community organizer who works for the people, and we want the DSS to know that the youths of Gwagwalada are watching,” he said.

The protesters emphasized that Comrade Muhammad Isah Hassan has been actively involved in grassroots mobilization, youth engagement, and community advocacy, insisting that his work has always been peaceful and people-oriented.

As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had not issued an official statement clarifying the nature of the invitation extended to Muhammad Isah Hassan. Security operatives were seen maintaining a calm presence as discussions reportedly took place inside the office.

The situation remained peaceful, with youths calling on security agencies to respect civic space, uphold the rule of law, and avoid actions that could be interpreted as harassment of community leaders and activists.
