In a significant breakthrough, one of the suspected wire vandals responsible for the widespread power blackout in Abaji and Kwali Area Councils was apprehended early this morning in Kwali.

The suspect was caught in the act, attempting to steal vandalized cables, according to eyewitnesses. Sources say he had already severed some of the wires and was looking for a way to move them when he was intercepted.

This latest arrest follows earlier detentions of two to three other members of the same syndicate in Kwali. However, the whereabouts of those previously apprehended individuals remain unclear to the local community, despite reports that they had been handed over to security agencies.

Local vigilante groups in Kwali were credited with the arrest, and community members have praised their swift action in removing a “threat to progressive society.”

While the arrest has been welcomed, residents are calling on authorities to ensure that appropriate measures are taken against the suspect, emphasizing that a strong deterrent is necessary to prevent further vandalism and protect essential services.
