The race for the 2027 House of Representatives seat in the Gwagwalada–Kwali Federal Constituency appears to have begun earlier than expected, following a controversial Facebook post by Ibrahim Y. Yamawo, the Chief Press Secretary to Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman Hon. Abu Giri.
Yamawo, whose boss is believed to be positioning himself to run for the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), posted a cryptic but provocative message on his Facebook page, stating:
“Even Bayani who has directly worked for PDP in Gwagwalada and other Area will definitely face the consequences in due time… With time he won’t deny the fact.”
The post immediately triggered a storm across local political circles, reviving old rivalries and exposing the early tensions between emerging aspirants.
Prominent grassroots mobilizer and political influencer Dobiza Dobiza quickly responded, issuing what many interpreted as a direct warning to both Yamawo and Chairman Giri. In a strongly-worded Facebook post, he declared:
“The next time I see the likes of this comment against Hon Danladi Chiya again, I will engage your Boss — and you know what it means for me to engage him. That I went silent on him is not fear but respect to the ceasefire called by Engineer Shagi S. Jonah.

Dobiza’s comment instantly escalated the situation, drawing hundreds of reactions and sparking fierce debates between supporters of the two chairmen: Hon. Abu Giri of Gwagwalada and Hon. Danladi Chiya of Kwali, both of whom are reportedly interested in the same 2027 APC ticket.
While Yamawo’s controversial statement suggests allegations of anti-party activities, some political actors argue that the relationship between the Gwagwalada PDP chairman and certain APC figures is deeper than party lines.
Sources close to indigenous groups insist the ties are rooted in ethnic solidarity, not politics.
Others disagree, claiming the CPS is deliberately attempting to sow confusion in the constituency:

Conversely, Chairman Abu Giri was accused by some respondents of:
