A fresh wave of controversy has erupted online after photos surfaced allegedly showing the son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, attending a meeting with directors from the Ministry of Aviation and the FCT Administration.

The debate began after Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, made a viral post on Facebook questioning the young man’s presence at the high-level meeting.

“What is Wike’s son doing in a meeting of the directors of the Ministry of Aviation and the FCT?” Fayose wrote in the post that quickly drew thousands of reactions and comments.

The incident has since triggered a flood of criticism from Nigerians on social media, with many accusing Wike of adopting what they described as President Bola Tinubu’s “family-style governance” — a reference to the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, who has been seen at official events and is believed to wield informal influence.

One user, Dickson Eshiet Reloaded, commented: “Operation promote your son and I promote my son. They are learning so fast from their leader, Jagaban.”

Another, Sunday Peter Osunleti, added: “He’s learning the job sir, na so Seyi Tinubu started.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, warning that such involvement of family members in governance erodes professionalism and public trust.

While the FCT Administration has not issued an official statement on the matter, many Nigerians say the optics of the situation reinforce perceptions of political nepotism and elite privilege in public office.

For now, the debate continues to rage online, with calls for greater transparency and accountability in the conduct of public officials and their families
