Fresh allegations have surfaced linking the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chairmanship candidate, Hon. Ezekiel Zezelaga, to a series of suspicious property acquisitions allegedly made on behalf of the current Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri.

According to findings by Chronicles Reporters, Zezelaga is alleged to be one of the key beneficiaries and facilitators of questionable contracts used to siphon public funds under the Gwagwalada Area Council administration. Sources within the council hinted that Zezelaga has been serving as a “front contractor” — handling multiple council-funded projects, many of which allegedly lead back to the chairman’s private properties.

One particularly controversial project involves the road construction leading to Abu Giri’s private residence behind Hajj Camp, which Zezelaga was reportedly awarded as a contractor. Investigators also point to a house behind Kotangora Estate allegedly purchased in Giri’s wifes name, with Zezelaga acting as the middleman.

“These are not isolated contracts; they are well-coordinated financial arrangements designed to drain the council’s allocation while enriching a few individuals,” a senior council staff told Chronicles Reporters under condition of anonymity.

Reacting to the ongoing revelations, Barrister Yinka Oyesomi, legal counsel to Chronicles Reporters, confirmed that the newsroom’s legal and investigative units are deepening their probe into the alleged laundering of Gwagwalada’s monthly allocations.

“All those involved in the looting and money laundering schemes under the Gwagwalada Area Council will be brought to book,” Barrister Oyesomi vowed. “We are building a case with evidence that will expose how public funds were diverted through fraudulent contracts and property acquisitions.”

The Chronicles Reporters team has requested for council allocation documents through the chairman through a written FOI suggesting a pattern of contract inflation, ghost projects, and land acquisitions linked to political figures in the council. Which the council responded saying it’s in custody of the EFCC & ICPC, and the council is under investigation. The ongoing investigation, part of a wider exposé titled “The Gwagwalada Files”, aims to uncover the depth of corruption and financial mismanagement within the local government system.

The report also raises pressing questions about APGA’s internal integrity and the role of political godfatherism in council-level corruption networks.

As the investigation unfolds, Chronicles Reporters promises to publish more details — including documents, transaction trails, and testimonies from insiders — in its upcoming special series.

This story is part of Chronicles Reporters’ ongoing commitment to accountability journalism, ensuring that information truly brings transformation.
