Oyo Graduate Accuses Olugbon Of Orile Igbon Of Using Armed Men To Assault Him, Seize His Farmland And Paint Factory

Mr. Oyediran Taiwo David, a Chemical Engineering graduate from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has accused the Olugbon of Orile Igbon in Oyo State, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, of land grabbing, destruction of his farmland, and unlawful takeover of his paint factory.

He alleged that a chief and armed men loyal to the monarch physically assaulted him, claiming he was struck with a gun during the incident.

Speaking with Chronicles Reporters, David explained that despite submitting several petitions to various police formations in Oyo State, he has been denied justice, attributing the silence of law enforcement agencies to the monarch’s political connections and his close relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He recounted: “In 2004/2005, I purchased one acre of land for N3,000,000 in 2006 from the then Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Ogbomoso zone, Oyo State. I established my farm and paint production business on the land, which I have been using since 2006.

“But in November 2023, the new Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, brought a bulldozer, destroyed my farmland, and fenced off my paint factory.”

David further revealed that he filed petitions at the Divisional Police Office, the Area Command, the Oyo State Police Command, and even the Oyo State Anti-Land Grabbing Agency. However, according to him, none of the agencies acted because of the monarch’s influence and political connections.

When Chronicles Reporters contacted Oba Alao for a response to the allegations, the monarch denied any knowledge of the accuser and maintained that land disputes were civil matters that should be resolved in court.

He said: “I don’t know anyone bearing that name. Land matters are civil issues. If he thinks there is a case, the proper step is to go to court. And if there is any element of criminality, he should involve the police.”

When informed that David had already reported to the police but claimed nothing was done due to the monarch’s influence, Oba Alao dismissed the allegation as blackmail.

He added: “That is not true; it is simply blackmail. Why would I do such a thing? I don’t know this person. And thank you for calling me. I will investigate this matter, and if it turns out that I don’t know this man, then he will be in trouble.”

To support his claim of assault, David provided a medical report obtained from the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso. The report detailed that he was attacked on December 13, 2024, by a chief and about five armed men who attempted to forcefully seize his land.

The medical findings stated: “The above-named patient presented to our facility at exactly 2.55 p.m. on the 13th December, 2024, with complaints that he was attacked about an hour prior by a Chief and five armed men over a piece of land they wanted to seize. He reported being struck with guns on the head, right eye, back, and legs.

“On examination, we observed swelling on the left side of his head, the right upper eyelid, and bruises on the right elbow. He was managed as a case of physical assault and was given Ibuprofen and Paracetamol for pain relief.”
