A presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Obi, who is a leading member of opposition coalition floated on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), appeared on Sunday Politics programme. In his opinion, Nigeria is well blessed in the 19 states that it has in the north part of the country and there is a lot to do with the numerical voter strength, the vast arable lands but due to this hydra-headed monster of insecurity there has been little that has been made of the potential of the region.
Obi stated that, we voted in competence, we have voted in tribe, (and) we have voted in religion; now it is time to vote in competence. I would like them to trust me. North is the largest capital of this nation- the wild fields of the north. I will put in order the criminality we meet with in the north to-day. In case I become president, the North will dance with me. I know what the problem is.”
The ex-governor of Anambra State promised not only to become a caring president, but also to become a compassionate president”. He claimed that president Bola Tinubu was insensitive to the suffering of the Nigerians. According to him, Tinubu opted to go on Christmas holiday in Lagos in December 2024 and not in Ibadan the capital city of Oyo State whereby some children lost their lives in a stampede in a Christmas party.
No mercy; people lost their kids who will take this country ahead in the future and he took Christmas trip. Obi even directed his attack on Tinubu regarding the attack in Benue State that Obi went to Benue yet he never got to Yelwata where suspected herdsmen killed several people and displaced thousands of persons. Tinubu had said bad roads and floods did not give him access to the distressed community.
