Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a physician based in Kaduna, has finally been freed after spending ten distressing months in captivity. Her abduction last year sparked significant concern among her colleagues and the broader medical community.
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) confirmed her release in a statement by Dr. Omoha Amobi, the organization’s Public Relations Officer.
In a message that conveyed a deep sense of relief, Dr. Amobi stated, “We are thrilled to share that Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, our esteemed colleague from the National Eye Centre in Kaduna, is back with her family.” The president of NARD, Dr. Osundara Tope Zenith, expressed immense joy over the news.
Dr. Amobi went on to express gratitude to everyone involved in the efforts for her safe return, emphasizing that the support, prayers, and contributions from all members and well-wishers were vital during this ordeal. He concluded by urging the community to continue working together towards ensuring a safer environment for all.
