Governor Alex Otti of Abia State emphasized that there will be no division in Abia under his leadership, as both indigenes and non-indigenes residing in the state will be treated equally. He stated that his administration is solely concerned with competence and what individuals can offer the state in service, regardless of their origin.
Speaking at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Umuahia during the thanksgiving service marking his one year in office, Otti underscored his administration’s commitment to non-discrimination. He stated, “I think what is most important is also that this administration does not discriminate, we don’t even want to know what part of Abia you’re coming from. We don’t even want to know what part of Igboland you come from. Once you reside here (in Abia), you are a part of us.”
Governor Otti highlighted a significant milestone by announcing the appointment of a Permanent Secretary from Edo state, underscoring his administration’s inclusivity.
Regarding infrastructure, Otti announced the forthcoming launch of a multi-billion naira terminal project in Umuahia, consolidating all motor parks and a railway station in one location. He envisioned a comprehensive infrastructural transformation for Umuahia, with plans for a railway line from Aba, promising significant developments within the next year.
Otti sought more prayers and support from Abia citizens, pledging to persist in doing the right thing despite opposition criticism.
In a sermon delivered at the thanksgiving service, Reverend Uma Onwunta of the Presbyterian Church emphasized the importance of gratitude in the eyes of God.
