Mohammed Saidu Etsu, a chieftain and former national chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has taken legal action by approaching the High Court of the FCT, Abuja, seeking the nullification of Abdullahi Ganduje’s appointment as the party’s national chairman.
In the originating motion filed by Etsu on Friday, obtained by SaharaReporters, he alleged that Ganduje’s appointment as APC national chairman, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was unlawful.
Etsu’s motion includes several reliefs sought before the court, such as setting aside Ganduje’s appointment and declaring that the National Executive Committee of the APC lacks the power to make such an appointment. He also seeks a declaration that the national chairman of the APC can only emerge through a democratic election held at the National Convention of the Party, as stipulated by the APC Constitution.
Furthermore, Etsu contends that the acting chairman of the APC, after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, must be someone from his geopolitical zone, the North Central, rather than from the North West, where Ganduje hails from.
