Mr. Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of cryptocurrency firm Binance Holdings Limited, currently standing trial alongside the company in Nigeria, faces potential health risks, as expressed by Aluko & Oyebode and Co., the law firm representing him in the case.

Gambaryan, who is facing a money laundering charge, reportedly slumped in a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, according to earlier reports.

In a letter addressed to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court (FHC) and signed by Partner C.J. Caleb, the law firm expressed concerns about Gambaryan’s well-being. The letter, dated May 23 and filed, titled “Re: Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/128/2024 – Application for the Provision of Medical Treatment to Mr. Tigran Gambrayan at Nizamiye Hospital,” highlighted the potential health risks Gambaryan faces while in detention at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Caleb raised the alarm over Gambaryan’s deteriorating health condition and emphasized the need for comprehensive medical attention. He stated, “The applicant broke down yesterday and the medical facility gave him Intravenous (IV) treatment for malaria.”

Furthermore, Caleb noted that Gambaryan, being an American citizen, requires urgent medical attention due to the severity of malaria, a disease for which American citizens lack immunity, potentially leading to fatal consequences.

The defendant also reportedly suffered from throat infection, with the added challenge of the Kuje Medium Correctional Facility undergoing renovation works.

Given the circumstances, the law firm urged for Gambaryan’s transfer to Nizayime Hospital, Abuja, to receive comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for the preservation of his life.
