A suspected interstate child trafficker accused of abducting two children from a school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been apprehended in Abuja by officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command. The arrest was confirmed on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Josephine Adeh, via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Blessing Okoi, was arrested shortly after arriving in Abuja with the children. Reports reveal that she allegedly visited the children’s school in Port Harcourt, enticed them with biscuits, and abducted them. To conceal her crime, she renamed one of the children, intending to hand him over to a waiting parent.
In a video shared by the Police PRO, the children’s parents reported their disappearance to the Rivers State Police Command, prompting immediate action. Through diligent intelligence gathering, the suspect was tracked to Abuja. The Rivers Police Command collaborated with their counterparts in the FCT to launch a joint investigation.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, briefed reporters on the case, highlighting the extensive effort it took to locate the suspect. “It took our operatives two weeks of intense work to uncover her hideout in Abuja,” he said.

The suspect is currently cooperating with the authorities, providing critical information to aid the investigation. Once the investigation concludes, she is expected to face charges in court.
