A fire outbreak has destroyed one of the female students’ hostels at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. The affected building is the Queen Elizabeth Hall, a residential facility exclusively for female undergraduates at the institution.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, leaving parts of the hall damaged. Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of this report, swift intervention by the university’s firefighting team prevented further escalation.
The Director of Public Relations at the University, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with Daily Post. She disclosed that the fire affected the offices of the Hall Warden and the Secretary, stating, “Yes, it is true. The office of the Warden and the office of the Secretary of the Warden were affected.”
