Eyewitnesses reported that a suspected one-chance robber was lynched around 2 a.m. in Abuja after arriving at the scene in a Golf car with two accomplices. The suspects reportedly came from the Dutsen-Alhaji junction along the expressway.

Muhammad Sani, a member of the United Hunters Society of Nigeria in Kubwa, told our reporter that the suspect’s two accomplices escaped after their vehicle collided with a road barrier. Additionally, Sulaiman Yunusa, a security guard at a nearby filling station, mentioned that a stolen motorcycle driven by one of the robbers was recovered at the scene before the vehicle was set on fire by an enraged crowd. According to Yunusa, one-chance robberies have become increasingly common along the expressway, with perpetrators often targeting parked trucks at night.

Our reporter visited the site later in the morning and observed scavengers dismantling parts from the burnt vehicle. Police were alerted to the incident, and the remains of the suspected robber were subsequently taken to the morgue at Kubwa General Hospital.

Attempts to reach the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful.
