The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended four individuals linked to the mysterious disappearance of Yahaya Faruq, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. Faruq, who was serving in Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area, vanished after reporting for duty at his part-time job at LDM Chinese Mining Company.

The police command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. She stated, “Yes, I am aware of Faruq’s disappearance. Four suspects have been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.”

Faruq was declared missing on October 14, prompting concerned Nigerians to call on security agencies to investigate his whereabouts. The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Edo State chapter, also raised the alarm through a public statement, urging the police to conduct a thorough probe into the incident.

The MSSN’s statement revealed that Faruq was a committed corps member, serving at Mixed Secondary School in Ikuru Town while working part-time at the Chinese milling company. “The troubling fact is that Faruq signed in for his shift at LDM but did not sign out, raising more questions about his fate,” the group noted.

Further deepening the mystery, LDM Chinese Mining Company returned Faruq’s bag and phone to his primary assignment location at the school. This development has left his family, friends, and colleagues even more distressed, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his sudden disappearance.
